When I think about coziness, I think about being warm and comfortable. I picture myself centering into tranquility in the comfort of my home.
I usually try and make Sunday my lazy day where I let go of any sense of guilt towards not being productive. To me, it is simply my day to relax, slow down and refuel my energy. Don't get me wrong, I still potter around doing some light tidying or cooking, but it is all done with minimal stress.
Setting The Ambience
Creating a nice mood helps you feel a sense of harmony within your living environment and allows you to truly feel relaxed and be at ease at home. It is supposed to be your safe zone and the ultimate place to retreat from the outside world. This means you should be conscious about looking after your home so that you can work towards making your space as inviting and comfortable for yourself as possible.
Time for You
We often have multiple interactions with people daily, whether it is in person, on the phone, on social media, via emails as well as our workspaces and people within our communities. Although there is nothing wrong with this, our energies are frequently exhausted. This is why your alone time is so special.
Organising Yourself
You can still have a guiltless chilled day and be productive by preparing yourself for the rest of the week. All you need is a nice cosy seat or bed, a diary, a pen and a nice drink on the side.
When we wing each day, we risk dealing with chaos and it is very easy to forget about certain things and tasks. But when we actively plan things and note things down we can follow through with our commitments and achieve more.
Organising yourself can also help you to prioritise on important things and will give you the opportunity to change things around in advance. This allows you to manage yourselves better.
You can manage yourself better by:
- Having a daily diary
- Manage your calendar so that you can be reminded of any plans and tasks
- Invest in a whiteboard/chalkboard around the house and write reminders
- Use post-it notes and place them where you can see them clearly
Unwinding
Allowing yourself to unwind helps you relax your physical and mental well being as you create space and time to compose yourself and recharge. Here are some tips for making the most of your wind-down time:
- In order to unwind properly, do some cleaning the day before you have time off so that you can relax the following day.
- Turn off your apps: As we all know our phones are a distraction. We should, therefore, try to put our phones on silent or simply log out of apps that take up all of our attention at least for a couple hours.
- Become unapologetically OK with allocating time for you. You are going to be kinder to yourself, your loved ones and your colleagues when you make time for you.
Reflecting
Reflecting on your lazy day is a good way to contemplate on different areas of yourself. The reason reflection is good is because it is so easy to let each day pass without really taking in what has occurred and before you know it another week passes, without you learning or absorbing the week's hidden lessons.
Practice Mindfulness
Practicing mindfulness is an effective way to de-stress and align yourself with productive thought patterns that serve your well-being. Mindful practices are simple exercises that do not require you losing any sweat. You simply need a comfortable clear space, yourself and a good ambiance.
Your time is important and without looking after yourself you will find your self out of sync. You have the power to improve your situation when you care for your mind, body and soul correctly.
